Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Neuro Physician Assistant to join a dedicated neurological care team at a leading medical center in Johnson City, New York. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with neurologists and neurosurgeons, providing comprehensive care to patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong clinical skills, and have a passion for advancing neurological health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough neurological assessments, including history taking, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injuries.
- Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Conduct follow-up visits, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Assist in surgical procedures and provide pre-operative and post-operative care under the supervision of a neurosurgeon.
- Educate patients and their families on neurological conditions, treatment options, and preventative care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to case discussions and treatment planning.
- Stay current with advancements in neurological care through continuous education and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Active New York State PA license.
- BLS and ACLS certification required; additional certifications in neurology or neurosurgery are a plus.
- Strong clinical skills in neurology with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience as a Physician Assistant in neurology or neurosurgery.
- Experience working in a hospital setting or a specialized neurology clinic.
