Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients in the Neuro ICU, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management.
- Collaborate with attending physicians, neurosurgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and lab results, to monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as necessary.
- Assist in neurological procedures and emergency interventions as required.
- Participate in daily rounds, providing input on patient care and contributing to team decision-making.
- Educate patients and their families about conditions, treatments, and recovery processes to ensure informed decisions and support.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient encounters, care plans, and outcomes in the electronic medical record system.
- Stay current with advancements in neurocritical care through ongoing professional development and participation in relevant training and educational opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of New York.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- ACLS and BLS certification required.
- Strong knowledge of neurocritical care, including experience in managing neurological emergencies and complex cases.
Preferred Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Neuro ICU or similar critical care setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Experience with electronic medical records, particularly Epic.
